The Story
Feathered is a myth turned inward — not a cautionary tale of hubris, but a song of memory, defiance, and the ache of letting go.
In a high tower above the world, young Icarus dares to craft wings of his own. His father, Daedalus — once a visionary, now a man who flies low to survive — urges restraint. He fears the wind. He fears the past. But Icarus dreams not of safety, but of flight. Of escape. Of sunlight.
Far above, Apollo watches. Still mourning the boy he once lost, he finds himself drawn to Icarus’s fire. Yet prophecy has failed him before, and love has never promised safety. As shadows flicker on the walls and the Aurae sing of things forgotten and things to come, Apollo is left to wonder: What if flying is worth the fall?
Through wind-swept melodies like Follow the Wind, Catch Me (If I Fall), and Broken Wings, Feathered weaves a world of gods and grief, memory and myth. Full-body shadow puppetry and ensemble movement blur the line between what is seen and what is remembered. Daedalus stands as an archetype of the man who feared too much. Icarus, the boy who dares anyway.
And in the end, when he follows the wind, will this wandering child fly high — or fall down?
Follow the wind, see where it blows; who can know?

Meet the Characters
Icarus — a young, hopeful, and frankly naive boy with dreams and aspirations greater than himself. Though a beacon of light in darkness, his hopes are his Achilles heel.
Apollo — the god of music, of civilization, and of light; eternally youthful, but wise beyond his apparent age. He knows how the world and gods work, and has been burned before.
Daedalus — the depressed and abusive architect father of Icarus, imprisoned after creating the labyrinth, his architectural magnum opus.
The Aurae (Gaelene, Nephele, and Naiara) — nymphs of the wind; Constantly calling and reminding the audience of the story at hand, these characters narrate the tale.
Ensemble — Additional company members who aid the tale through movement and through voice.
